Mercy Baptist Church

My name is Douglas Phelps. I come from a large family. I have 6 sisters and 1 brother. I was born again at a young age. I don't remember how old I was exactly, but I do remember how I felt afterwards. I remember kneeling at the alter and thinking to myself how did I get here? One second I was standing in a Pew in the back of the church, the next I was walking forward as a Pianist played "Just As I Am" on the piano. I told the Lord I was a sinner, asked him to forgive me and accepted Jesus into my life that morning. It felt like a lightning bolt went plum through me. Since that morning the Lord has seen me through a whole mess of stuff; from joining the Army and going to war, to getting married to my wonderful wife (Michelle) and having 3 kids (Daphne, Patrick and Chloe). He's knocked me upside the head a number of times to get me to do what He wants. I reckon sometimes I can be a bit thick in the head. From serving in the van Ministry to helping out in Sunday school to singing in the choir and now working with the teens. Seems like the Lord always has me going someplace I never would have gone on my own. Can't wait to see where He takes me next.

Philippians 1:6 Being confident of this very thing that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.

My name is Michelle Phelps. In December of 2006, I opened a Christmas card that came in the mail. Tucked inside the card was a gospel tract. I read about how Jesus died for my sins, and it all suddenly made sense. I asked the Lord to forgive my sins that day. Not only did He save my soul, but He began to change my heart and the course of my life. I serve a loving and forgiving God. It's amazing what He can do when we surrender to Him!

Psalms 100:5 For the Lord is good; His Mercy is Everlasting and His truth endureth to all generations.
